Father Roderick Nichols is accused of child sexual abuse in New Mexico. Nichols had his license revoked but retired in 2015. The abuse is alleged to have taken place at St Francis de Paula in the early 1990’s and the victim was only 13 years old at the time.
Nichols was the pastor at St Vincent de Paula in Silver City when the abuse occurred.
Another priest, father Damian Gamboa is accused of abusing a 13 year old girl in the 1980’s. Gamboa served as a pastor at St Francis de Paula and civil complaints were filed against both against the Las Cruces and El Paso Dioceses. Gamboa was ordained in 1964 and is one of the well known credibly accused priests for the Las Cruces diocese.
