Defendants in the complaint are St. Joseph Parish in Lordsburg, New Mexico and the Catholic Church Diocese of El Paso. The man was abused as a boy by a priest in the 1960’s.
Detailed in the lawsuit is the alleged abuse by Rev. Lawrence Gaynor who died in 1978. The unnamed victim was abused from 1967 to 1968 when Gaynor was a priest at St. Joseph Parish according to the lawsuit. The lawsuit states the El Paso Diocese was aware of Gaynor’s abuse. Warning signs were ignored by the El Paso Diocese’s Bishop to put Gaynor under supervision.
